The path to nationals. Part 1.

The last time I played nationals was back in ’05 in Perth and being honest it is completely my fault that I have not played more considering how much I enjoyed my last foray.

All things, even those that are heaps of fun, must come to an end but this is the introduction so the ending comes later.

Beach soccer

Inaccurate title as not a single ball was kicked on sand (moving swiftly on)…. The year in football is all done and dusted and with it comes the beginning of my football hiatus for the next couple of years. So this calls for a season in review!

Clothier Cup 2011 Report.

The Clothier Cup is a biennial match between junior teams from Australia and the USA.  The junior teams are composed of Under 26 players from both nations with teams usually comprising of 4 members. Historically the HRTC has contributed an abundance of junior players to the Clothier with the majority of the current crop of A-graders having been a member of a tour or two in the past. The Clothier has been contested 8 times in total across 16 years the aggregate total being . The Australians team is currently the holders of the trophy after a 5-3 win on American soil 2 years ago but the Americans claimed victory last time they came down under in convincing fashion 7-1.

Wobbly ending

Summer league finished a few weeks (ahem months…. okay half a year) ago and with it the first installment of Wobblies in 2011. The team finished well and with slightly more composure could have been playing in the final. Before we get to the finals we’ll need to discuss the remainder of the regular season.

We had got as far as round 5 in the previous frisbee post. So let’s get going.

Clothier Trials

The Americans are coming and the Australian Clothier team is being selected. By virtue of their handicaps Hilton and Dan are automatically selected as 1 and 2. The remaining three sub-20 handicappers (Simon, Dan and myself) are to playoff for the remaining two spots with the bottom player to be a reserve.
